This competition entry aims at repositioning the spiritual and communal role of a library : encourage individual enlightenment and foster sharing among the community. The design employs a play of light and shadow on the external double-layered facade and internal ‘bamboo courtyards’ to inspire people while reading. Building form is shaped by flows from surroundings: the park, major road junctions, the church. It is designed to open up : to eliminate the boundary and becomes a new public space.
