The Design Concept is an elaboration of the elderly service provided by the church to the local community of Hong Kong. A place such as To Kwa Wan consists of elderly from various backgrounds but the community suggests that they are probably from the lower class of the society who had probably been working hard for a majority part of their lives without being reasonably rewarded. Within this society we see this project which with the provision of a space and activities with bright colours for the enjoyment of their lives in the later stage of life that they may not have experienced in the past. The provision of a place with different spatial quality, other than aiming to attract them to come and enjoy, also hopes to provide platform for the church to contact closely with the community in terms of religious area.
Other than its right colours also provides clarity for elderly to easily maneuver inside the space in a relatively safer way. Contrasts in colour and luminosity created makes it easier for them to distinguish objects from backgrounds, and they can distinguish rooms by colours which makes it easier for staffs as well.
